The Grand Galleria is well located adjacent to the main pedestrian street and plaza that leads from the center of the town down to the waterfront. Sited in a resort area, Burgas fills with people during the summer, drawing even more attention to the shopping center. The plaza in front of the Grand Galleria is redesigned and reinvigorated with curvilinear walls, as well as a dynamic cascading water feature, creating a newly energized city center and plaza. The facade of the Grand Galleria is a full-height glazed curtain wall which looks out onto the pedestrian plaza in front, seamlessly connecting the outside with the inside. This visually opens up the vertical circulation of the escalators and the activity within the shopping center. The architecture’s intent is to invite visitors inside, while actively engaging inhabitants of the outer plaza who otherwise would be isolated.
