At the bicentenary of Mexican independence, this ambitious and diverse 31-hectare Master Plan attempts to create a vibrant new district to enhance the cultural, social, and economic value of the already prosperous Toluca Valley. The complex is designed as a grand park with buildings strategically placed among the rich and abundant vegetation. The project includes administrative buildings for the State of Mexico government, as well as high-rise apartments, duplexes and townhouses. The remaining development features an auditorium, convention center, schools, two hotels, and a large-scale store with characteristics unique to the area. Four elements in the “eye” of the development pay tribute to the different stages in the creation of the state of Mexico. At the end of this striking collection of symbolic yet utilitarian structures sits the headquarters for the State of Mexico government.
