LAGUARDA.LOW ARCHITECTS has been awarded first prize in an international competition for the Master Plan and Architectural Design of OCT Bao’an, a new 106-acre, mixed-use development along Shenzhen’s Qianhai Bay. Set on a 3,900 foot stretch of waterfront, the development was conceived as a sprawling green landscape with pedestrian walkways that traverse the site and connect a diverse program of cultural, commercial and entertainment facilities. With a focus on open green spaces, engagement with the water, and pedestrian-oriented connections, OCT Bao’an creates a new paradigm for waterfront, urban developments.
