Located in Shanxi province, China, the Taiyuan Lakefront Village was developed as a part of a larger masterplan for the redevelopment of the Jin Yang Lake in Tai Yuan. The masterplan proposed a leisure development throughout the complete circumference of the lake where the visitor is lead through multiple thematic nodes. The Tai Yuan Lakefront project is one of the principal nodes in this development.
Integrating smoothly with the main pathways of the overall masterplan, the open-air waterfront village stretches north and west, creating a journey through various layers of the project. Inspired by the organic composition of villages, the visitor’s paths through the village are carefully choreographed with the intention of creating an experience filled with spatial surprises; waterways, animated fountains, hidden courtyards, lakefront boardwalks and views of the impressive lake of Jin Yang and the nearby natural reservoir. Programmatically composed by restaurants, lounges, cafes, teahouses and a clubhouse in the midst of the lake, the project embraces the diversification of the experience itself.
