The project is sited around a natural lake, which connects to a major river. With numerous residential projects planned around the site, a new town center with retail, office, hotel, restaurants, and entertainment is a logical development. Utilizing the site’s natural assets, the river will be integrated into the overall water transportation system. Avoiding the artificial townscape approach to design, the town’s local vernacular was applied instead to this new project. On the street side, there will be more contemporary design at an urban scale, and further inward, the more intimate Chinese-village style emerges. The waterfront was strategically designed to allow pedestrian views from anywhere on the site, while simultaneously directing views to tenant storefronts. When this project opens, it will be the most desirable destination for a variety of experiences in Shunde.
