On August 17, 2022, the Annual Gold and Silver Awards of the 8TH CREDAWARD were officially announced. Two projects designed by Laguarda.Low Architects - Grandberry Park in Minami Machida, Tokyo and OCT OH BAY in the Bao’an District of Shenzhen, China were selected for a Gold and Silver Award, respectively. Congratulations to the LLA design team for another great achievement!

The 8TH CREDAWARD received 1,353 works from 15 countries/regions, and a total of 549 entries were shortlisted. On August 5th and 6th, Nearly 400 speakers from different countries/regions competed for the annual gold and silver awards during the two days of intense presentations.

The 8TH CREDAWARD invites global academics and quality developers as well as construction groups to serve as Jurors. The Jury adheres to the evaluation standards of architectural aesthetics, environmental protection, user experience and economic benefits along with the principles of fairness, impartiality and rationality in selecting the winners.

Gold Award

OCT Bao’an OH BAY

Category: Mixed-Use Regional Commercial Center

As the top priority of the Greater Bay Area development strategy, Shenzhen and its coastal Bay area has become a hot spot for development. Under such a circumstance, Bao'an District joined hands with OCT Group to develop this multi-functional comprehensive project on the central axis of Bao'an’s Central District and the coastal leisure zone. OH BAY adheres to the concept of "international vision, original design, open and sharing, green ecology, intelligent technology, three-dimensional transportation”. The project represents Shenzhen's future innovative urban lifestyle and reflects the new generation concept of cultural tourism and commercial development.

At OH BAY, the design concept redefines the notion of “park.” LAGUARDA.LOW’s strategy challenged the traditional idea of a park as a separate, independent area devoid of commercial activity. Instead, the design organically integrates natural habitats with urban lifestyles. Its streamlined architectural posture, three-dimensional circulation, elaborate space, and open views complement the park ecosystem, city and nature, business and leisure functions, and achieve sustainable development.

An ecological green belt runs through the east and west coasts, various forms of public plazas, promenades, lawns, and coastal natural landscape that seamlessly connect with the mixed-use complex, and use various sustainable green energy systems to create a new high-quality coastal resort integrating life, work, entertainment and leisure that reflects Shenzhen's urban spirit of development, innovation, vitality and diversity.

Silver Award

Minami-Machida Grandberry Park

Located a 30-minute train ride from the center of Tokyo, Grandberry Park is a new paradigm in mixed-use lifestyle centers. The site includes the Minamimachida train station, a lifestyle retail center, and great lawn all integrated with the adjacent Tsuruma Park. Laguarda.Low Architects' application of thoughtful urban planning principles ensures that the center is not only a popular destination but also a benefit to the surrounding community. Grandberry Park acts as a community center and place to socialize and meet with friends. At its core, the project succeeds in bringing the public and private sectors together to redevelop the urban infrastructure and create a new "living-base" at a connectivity point where nature and activity can merge.

From its inception, Grandberry Park set to improve upon the typical shopping and leisure experience through a combination of built form and open, natural spaces. By taking advantage of existing site conditions, the retail site remains elevated, melding seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. A mix of intimate, low-slung structures with varying facades in an array of materials defines the retail center. Our design allows for maximum future flexibility of the retail spaces while still incorporating individuality into the storefronts. Additionally, sections of the second-floor circulation are integrated within the building volume to help retain the unique look of a village. The result is a pedestrian- scale elevation in tune with the surrounding residential landscape.

Grandberry Park creates open spaces where communities can gather alongside major retail destinations ensures that the district remains active and varied, and that engaging experiences exist throughout the day, week, and year. The result is that rather than a stop and go visit, guests can make Grandberry Park a full-day experience.

CREDAWARD was initiated by DJSER in 2014. Since its inception, it has developed into an influential international award in China because of the authoritative judges and strict judging process. It is praised in the industry as one of the most challenging awards to attain.
