On March 21, 2019, Laguarda.Low Principal James Wu moderated a roundtable discussion at the China Grading of Shopping Malls conference in Beijing.
The conference theme, Focusing on the Future Sharing Age, gathered together industry experts on architecture, policy and development to share insights and important new trends. Representatives from commercial real estate enterprises and more than 200 guests from the UK, South Korea and Japan gathered at the conference.
In addition to moderating a panel, James was interviewed by Leju.com, a news website focused on real estate finance and economics. He summarized LLA’s approach and understanding of flexible retail design in rapidly growing markets like China:
“The success of a shopping mall depends on many aspects: the location, the accuracy of positioning, the combination of business types, and the professionalism of operation. Design plays a pivotal role in the success of shopping centers. In fact, the success of the shopping center is not temporary, but a process of constant challenge, which needs to be adjusted during the operation. The shopping center design needs to be constantly updated following the changes in market demand.”
